Stamps showing wild animals have a special magic of their own, and collecting them is like building up your own little encyclopaedia of wild animals of the world. Some of the stamps here show native fauna, while others show zoo animals. Many people specialise in particular animals, like elephants, or chelonia. Here are some of my favourites.

The stamps on this page are a small selection of the wild animal stamps I can offer. The postally used stamps have been specially selected for light postmarks, which sometimes means rejecting around four fifths of the stamps available, so that you get the very best. The postmarks will vary from the one in the picture, and you are welcome to a refund if you don't like the postmark.  If you would like to ask about any stamps from this period that you are especially looking for, you can email me c/o alisonlever@yahoo.co.uk

A range issued between 1965 and 2001. The cattle of course aren't wild animals, but it's part of the same 1973 set as the cheetahs, and imagine looking after cattle where there are leopards, cheetahs, and lions to watch out for!

Turtles and Tortoises

Group 1

The Australian 20c tortoise stamp is part of a series on aboriginal art, which came out in 1971. The African Pancake Tortoise came out in 1977. I have it as a Kenyan, and a Ugandan stamp, since those countries shared stamp designs - please ask if you would like it from one particular country.

The Hawkshead turtle from the Bahamas first came out in 1971, and is quite rare. The Canadian 35c Eastern Spiny Soft-Shelled Turtle is an attractive stamp, but Canadians tended to be a little brutal with their postmarks, so the ones I am offering are the pick of the bunch. The Papuan turtle is relatively common, a very attractive, dramatic stamp.

Ordering stamps:
Please allow £0.95 pounds (95p) if you come from anywhere in Europe, and £1.50 if orders are to be sent elsewhere. The postage charge is the same however many stamps you buy. This means that it's cheaper to buy more than one stamp, because the cost of packaging and postage is less per stamp. This reflects the time spent ensuring that the stamps are packed so that they arrive to you safely - it takes about the same time for one stamp as for larger orders.

Your stamps will be sent as soon as I receive payment. You can return the stamps and obtain a refund if they are not what you expected. Paypal is preferred, though other forms of payment can be negotiated. Euros are welcome as well as pound sterling.
